Humpbacks, Orcas and Khutz Inlet June 6 – 8

1 Comment / June 2026 / janicecep@gmail.com

We’ve had wonderful cruising. A couple very long days, and some really short days with just a two hour or so jaunt. Yesterday we had to stop the boat in the middle of the channel for the Orca Whales. It’s so great. We’ve been looking hard for a bear, and we know they are out […]

Bottleneck Inlet June 5

We left Shearwater at 8 am this morning, in the rain. The Waggoner Flotilla was also in Shearwater and they also left. About 10 boats altogether. We knew we had 2 areas today that we needed to arrive at the correct time so the current would be less going through a narrow inlet. Perceval narrows

Pruth – Codville – Shearwater June 2 – 5

2 Comments / June 2026 / janicecep@gmail.com

We left Pruth Bay and traveled to Codville Lagoon. We were the only boat and had stunning scenery. We watched two common loons for the entire evening, calling back and forth for each other, and watched an Osprey fishing and getting plenty to eat. The next day we traveled to the community of Shearwater. They

We stayed 2 nights in Fry Pan Bay; lovely. We just relaxed and went for a dinghy ride. This was the entrance to Fry Pan Bay. On Monday, June 1st we went for a 4 hour, 26 nautical mile cruise and anchored in Pruth Bay. Pruth Bay is home to the Hakai Research Institute. The

Our biggest boating accomplishment!

May 30, 2026 We made it around Cape Caution! We left Port McNeill at 5:14 a.m. 10 minutes before sunrise! The going was so good we just kept going. We had south, 1 – 9 knots wind. We figure there were 8 – 10′ swells. Very different from waves! The forecast was for 1 –

Port McNeill May 29, 2026

On Wednesday we left Lagoon Cove early and transited to Port McNeill. It was a lovely and beautiful cruise. We were in Port McNeill about 4 years ago on our other boat, Hideaway. That time we got stuck there for a full week. I just went up to the office and paid for night 3.

Blind Channel to Lagoon Cove

2 Comments / May 2026 / janicecep@gmail.com

We got to spend 2 lovely days and nights at Blind Channel. The second evening, we went back to the restaurant and ordered the items we had missed on the first visit. They only have 3 entrees, 3 apps and 3 desserts, and they’re only open from 6 – 7:30. It was another lovely meal.

Blind Channel Resort

We got to sleep in and have a lazy, slow morning drinking coffee on the flybridge. Today we’re moving to Blind Channel Resort and will be in a slip. We’ve been there before and it’s one of our favorites. There are beautiful trails here. Another Nordic Tug came in and tied up right next to

Very Loose Plans!

We’ve made really good progress! We’re not in a hurry, just moving along. The high cruising season here is July and August. So, most places I thought we would stop, for dinner, ice cream, happy hour, are closed. The weather and seas have been perfect. After crossing the Strait of Georgia we found a lovely

Strait of Georgia – A Very Long Day

2 Comments / May 2026 / janicecep@gmail.com

Well, we’re in the middle of our day. It’s only noon and we hauled anchor at 6 am. Last night we made all the food for today: overnight oats, egg salad sandwiches and a greek salad. About 8:30 we transited the Porlier Pass going with 3 knots of current. May not seem like a lot
