We have been enjoying land and sunshine in Ketchikan! We’ve eaten some really good meals, rode the free bus around town, shopped, done some boat maintenance and have worked out our next plan. We’re going to stay one more night on the dock – for a total of 4 nights here. It is amazing to see the shift in population as the cruise ships come and go. Yesterday there were 4 cruise ships here. Locals are telling us that sometimes it amounts to 20,000 people in a day. Usually by 6 pm they are all gone.
Ketchikan is on an island called Revillagigedo. Tomorrow morning we are going to depart and circumnavigate the island. We’ll be transiting the Behm Canal, and it will take us through the Misty Fjords National Monument. We figure it will take one week to make the circle. There is a Misty Fjords Ranger Station in town, so we will be visiting there today, finding out about possible anchorages, walks, waterfalls, bears and fishing.

Funicular to Cape Fox Lodge and a great restaurant; Heen Kahidi. Great Views!

Tidal Grid – very common in Alaska where there are often tides of 24 feet. You drive the boat onto the grid during high tide, the tide goes out, and you can clean or work on the bottom of your boat.

Great pictures. Sounds like a awesome adventure…
