Walker Cove, June 18

After 2 nights anchored in the upper arm of Rudyerd Bay, we moved 9 nm into Punchbowl Cove. There was 1 mooring ball and we got it! As we were turning into the cove a sail boat came from the other direction – it was a race! By the time we were hooked up to the ball the sailboat was dropping their anchor. We were all out in the dinghies and they came over for a chat. So great to visit!

Yesterday we motored another 25 nm up the Behm Canal to Walker Cove. Another mooring ball! It is spectacular! Filled with waterfalls and snow fields. It is like being in Yosemite, up close, with no people. No timed entry, no traffic jam. Amazing! Also, no walking : (

The Gifted School was ok. I liked Culpability more.

I returned Saints of Swallow Hill after only listening to about an hour. It was too graphic. On Libby I now have -0- books and about 10 on hold. Desperate to find something to listen to.

  1. We were in Walker cove waiting out some strong winds. We got off our mooring buoy to go check our prawn trap (it was pouring rain and we hadn’t seen anyone in a day or two, so were not worried about losing the ball) unbelievably, as we headed to pick up the trap, someone came in and made a beeline for the ball! I got on the radio and let him know the situation and he very nicely left the ball for us and anchored.

    1. That is supper nice! We’re in our 3rd spot on a mooring ball and loving it! Can’t believe there are so few boats that make this circle! BTW: no crab or shrimp yet

  2. Hey Jan! It’s Gwen. Your pics are amazing!!! What an adventure! I can recommend a couple of books. Long Bright River by Liz Moore. Also, The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller.
