Blind Channel to Lagoon Cove

We got to spend 2 lovely days and nights at Blind Channel. The second evening, we went back to the restaurant and ordered the items we had missed on the first visit. They only have 3 entrees, 3 apps and 3 desserts, and they’re only open from 6 – 7:30. It was another lovely meal. We determined we were leaving on Tuesday, May 26. There is a set of two tidal rapids we needed to navigate. Green Point Rapids and Whirlpool Rapids. In order to pass through both at or near slack, we needed to depart at 5:15 a.m. We are not morning people – but we did great! The rapids were easy.

Then we needed to transit a portion of The Johnston Strait, a notoriously treacherous body of water. It was going great, and then, 4′ waves slapping us in the face. The spray going over our bow and windshield. Where can we pull in? We pulled off just for a few minutes and miraculously, it laid down – got smother. Later in the day we found a small spot to drop an anchor for a great barbecue lunch. Then finished the cruise to Lagoon Cove. At Lagoon Cove they have a ‘happy hour’ on the dock and they provide all the spot prawns you can eat! The rest is bring a dish to pass. Full sun! Great people!

Both of these weather situations within an hour of each other. Just like Michigan!

So good morning! Sorry it’s taken me so long to check in. We’re with “E” Dock neighbors and are stern-tied with 4 boats (& rafted) since Friday for shrimping at North cove on Jones Island. Vern says we’ve had the best catch he ever remembers. I’m exhausted from having so much fun. We leave today & head to Roche Harbor for a few days.

Your BC adventure looks amazing and reminds me of ours 2 years ago. Lagoon cove was one of my favorites. Any bear action there so far?

Onward north friends! We’ll be following your progress 🤗🤗🤗🤗
