We’ve made really good progress! We’re not in a hurry, just moving along. The high cruising season here is July and August. So, most places I thought we would stop, for dinner, ice cream, happy hour, are closed. The weather and seas have been perfect. After crossing the Strait of Georgia we found a lovely little anchorage. There were a couple other small sailboats there.

When we hauled anchor in the morning we thought we were going to Desolation Sound – a dream of a park. As we were close, decided to move on to Refuge Cove – a great little stop with a cafe and small store – closed. Let’s keep heading north – everything is perfect. Well, just 2 hours ahead of us are the dreaded Triple Rapids of Yuculta, Gillard and Dent. After checking our Ports and Passes Tide Tables for the slack times of passage we found we just needed to slow down a little. We got close and then just turned off the engine and floated for about 2 hours. Great passage transiting the rapids!
Dent Rapids is a notoriously turbulent and fast-moving set of tidal rapids on the British Columbia coast, located between Sonora Island and Dent Island. Featuring the Violent “Devil’s Hole” whirlpool, this narrow passage sees ocean currents hit up to 9 knots, making it a hazardous area that requires precise timing for safe navigation.

Not too far from here, we have a reservation for a slip and dinner at an awesome restaurant tomorrow. So we found a beautiful little cove to anchor in – we are the only boat! Such peace and beauty.
