May 30, 2026 We made it around Cape Caution! We left Port McNeill at 5:14 a.m. 10 minutes before sunrise! The going was so good we just kept going. We had south, 1 – 9 knots wind. We figure there were 8 – 10′ swells. Very different from waves! The forecast was for 1 – 2 meter swells and getting calmer all day. That would have been nice. It was pretty doable – not scary. However, early on we both applied nausea patches.
We ate well on the crossing. Protein balls I had made the evening prior. Egg salad sandwiches, overnight oats, bananas, grapes, apples. Tomato and cucumber salad.
We finished by anchoring in FryPan Bay at 2:30 p.m. in 63′. We put out 250′ of chain. We were exhausted. We immediately took a 2.5 hour nap. I made a delicious banana bread. Then, we went to bed at 8:30 p.m.

Pine Island Light house in Queen Charlotte Strait, British Columbia.

These ferries go incredibly fast. We start getting out of their way as soon as we see one.

Egg Island light station. North of Cape Caution. Starting to look like we will make it.

Entrance to FryPan Bay anchorage. As nice of an anchorage as we’ve been in.

Morning coffee on May 31st. Only ones here, still a little chilly
Yesterday I finished “Unsheltered” by Barbara Kingsolver.

I remember FRY PAN! I think that was where we had a great time exploring in the dingy… a good memory.. how have 🦟s been 😡🤬?
I’m almost afraid to say it out loud – no bugs of any kind yet! Also though – no bears.
