Going south is very slow! We’ve had more wind and waves on this portion of the trip than any other. We left Sullivan Bay and landed in Kwatsi bay and did a stern tie.

Wednesday we left Kwatsi Bay and made it to Port Harvey. This is just a place to put the anchor down and get some rest. Not a very pretty place, but it worked really well. Thursday we had the anchor up at 5:30 a.m and finally put it down at 5:20 pm. Wow – a big day. We transited the famous Dent, Gillard and Yuculta rapids. Our timing was perfect! It has always been just us going through, but not this time. Clearly a lot of boats are trying to get south. There were about 20 going through the rapids in a single line.
Rescue Bay had great cinnamon rolls and a really great burger for dinner! We loaded up with fresh water and left in the morning. We crossed the Desolation Sound and went up into Malespina Inlet; anchored in Grace Harbor. There are pins and chains in the rock walls so we stern tied. There are a couple boats here already.
The winds have picked up and it’s incredible to see all the boats coming in. There are now about 50! There’s a 1.5 mile walk to a fresh water lake. Great to get off the boat and in the woods.
Day 3, waiting for calm seas! We are 136 nm from our home port; probably 3 good travel days. We have traveled 1,665 nm already and are ready to be back in Anacortes, WA!
