Humpbacks, Orcas and Khutz Inlet June 6 – 8

We’ve had wonderful cruising. A couple very long days, and some really short days with just a two hour or so jaunt. Yesterday we had to stop the boat in the middle of the channel for the Orca Whales. It’s so great. We’ve been looking hard for a bear, and we know they are out there, but none showing themselves yet. We’ve been in Lowe Inlet and Kumealon Inlet. Today we took off about 6 am and cruised 2 hours. We are in a tiny little inlet, sheltered from the wind and waiting for the seas just outside of Prince Rupert to calm down. We are going to cross the Dixon Inlet – our biggest water yet. It looks like a good window is opening this afternoon and tomorrow. We have a few places marked on the chart to pull out if need be.

Just finished Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke. What a great read! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
