When we left Ocean Falls we wanted to get prepped to cross Cape Caution. We chose FryPan Bay. Ended up staying 2 nights. All the little coves around here have boats anchored in them. Everyone is waiting to cross Cape Caution. Both mornings I got up at 4:15 am to check the weather. On Monday, July 20, 4 other boats had picked up anchor and were going to cross. I was watching the lead boat of Slow Boat. I told Norm if they left we would too.
Well, we left at 6 am (this is not early for this crossing) and lived to tell about it! The swells must have been at least 8 foot. OUCH! There was also heavy fog – which usually keeps the wind down. Wind and swell was going with us so that helps. We cruised in dense fog for 8 hours. Everything worked out great. We landed in Sullivan Bay and had dinner there.
Sullivan Bay is a floating community. It’s wonderful!
We had champagne to celebrate the round trip across Cape Caution!

Congratulations on the Cape Caution Crossing ! We’re currently in Smugglers Cove with grandkids and plan to cross the Strait of Georgia tomorrow. Our winds have been fairly calm. Safe travels.
